They have an anthropogenic origin, that means they are the result of human activity.  According to the consistent opinion of researchers, they are man-made structures having been the characteristic objects of the lowland landscape. The hill forts have outstanding importance from landscape, landscape history, geomorphology, archeological and biogeographic aspects, as well, and for this reason, a special attention must be paid to their protection within the nature protection.
