Cserkeszőlő in every season
Cserkeszőlő is located in the Southern part of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county, between rivers Tisza and Hármas Körös, in the heart of Tiszazug, at about 82 km from Szeged, 42 km from Kecskemét, and 127 km from the capital.
Our settlement is one of the youngest ones of the county. Earlier it was the part of the periphery of Tizsakürt, we became independent as of 1st January, 1952.
In the Middle Ages, royal peoples, Cumans and Jassi lived here who owed military service in exchange for their privileges. In the 18th century, the lord of the region granted land being suitable for vine planting to the inhabitants of Kunszentmárton, Csépa and Tiszazug, and since the beginning of the 20th century the grape and fruit production was carried out on increasing areas.
In the life of the settlement it had a great importance when in 1943, during a hydrocarbon exploration drilling thermal water containing high rate of dissolved minerals was found. The medicinal water including alkali chloride bicarbonate, sodium chloride, iodine, bromine and a temperature of 96 °C was discovered during the hydrocarbon exploration carried out by the Hungarian – American Oil Exploration Company.
At the beginning, the people wanting to heal their rheumatic and other illnesses arrived at the draining channels dug in the sand from far places. Then in 1950, the construction of the bath started, and since that time, the main attraction of the region is the medicinal thermal water.
The medicinal water thanks to its high sodium chloride and hydrogen carbonate can be used for the treatment of several health problems. Due to the beneficial effect of the water, the chronic musculoskeletal and rheumatic and the gynecological problems, as well, can be effectively healed.
However, the Therapeutic and Spa Bath reconstructed and expanded in 2010 provides possibilities not only to the persons looking for healing. The nine pools, slides, beach volleyball and beach football court, the mini golf and other program possibilities provide a pleasant relaxation for all the age groups. Additionally, thanks to the winter bath, our guests can enjoy the pleasant effect f the thermal water not only in the summer periods.
The guests, vacationers visiting the settlement are awaited by the region of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county having the richest natural values, in this way the surrounding area in addition to the bath, offers a lot of experiences and attractions. Naturally, most of the visitors come to us due to the water coming to the surface from a depth of 2300 m at a temperature of 82°C.
